Solid hardwood is made from a single piece of wood using tongue and groove edges and needs to be sealed and finished.  Solid hardwood is derived from a variety of different trees such as oak, hickory, maple, cherry and walnut.  Though solid hardwood is not always ideal for high traffic areas, it’s beautiful finish presents a classic natural element in any space.
Engineered wood is often installed with a locking system and is generally more resilient to moisture than traditional solid hardwood flooring. Made from wood and plywood, engineered wood is made with 100% real wood using high pressure, heat, and adhesives. Engineered wood is popular during remodels as it can easily be installed over certain types of old flooring.
